Day 77

Happy 1: Sprinkles Cupcakes. My roommates follow Sprinkles on Twitter. The business tweets things like: The first twenty-five people to whisper "sweet and salty" at the counter get a free Salted Caramel Cupcake. These girls like cupcakes, so we got the tweet and sped-walked seven or eight blocks to the store, whispered the magic phrase, and got a free cupcake. It was scrumptious.

Happy 2: Two Skype dates in one day. How lucky can a girl get? Talking to people at home really boosts my spirit. Especially when it's my college roomie, my parents, my brother and sister-in-law, and of course the cutest little boy in the whole wide world, my nephew.

Crappy: Sunday sermon. My roommate and I attended First St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church. I was pretty excited because it was Lutheran; we've been going to mostly non-denom churches. The pastor preached on money, but did it very, very poorly. He told the congregation that he and his wife give ten percent right of the top, not the leftovers like many people do. Apparently, this church just lost a pastor and many people left because of it. He said that pastors come and go but congregations and buildings remain. Really? Last I checked, people move away and ultimately die, and buildings can burn down or be wiped out by a tornado. This guy talked very little about God. Not okay. However, attending a wide variety of churches has given me an insight into my worship style preferences and shown me that the most important thing about a church is that it teaches and preaches the Word of God. Not the Word according to Man.
